Our Mandate

The Tah’lum Indigenous Artist Collective (TIAC) is a provincial non-profit organization based on Lekwungen territory (Victoria). It continuing to build organizational capacity that offers embodied learning, cross-nation and intergenerational artistic exchanges and cultural community engagement. Our collective is open and continues to shape shift. It builds on the strength, passion and resourcefulness of Indigenous artists, allies and institutional partners. Our vision is to continue to create a healthy and thriving Indigenous arts community.  

The mandate of the collective is three-fold: 

• To nurture the artistic practices of Indigenous artists - emerging, mid-career and senior 

• To build a sustainable infrastructure for the creation, production, presentation and documentation of Indigenous arts 

• To cultivate relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and develop critical discourses on contemporary art. 

 

An essential component of the TIAC is a continued respect for and engagement with Indigenous methodologies and cultural protocols, particularly those of the host nation.
